Hello, I am Shane Martin and am currently studying a Bachelors of Game Development (Programming) at SAE Institute, Australia, Brisbane.
A Little About Me:
I have been interested in video games since I was about three years old. First console I ever played was the Nintendo 64. I mainly played Killer Instinct and Yoshi Story. My favourite Yoshi was the dark blue coloured one, my favourite Killer Instinct character is a tie between Jago and Glacius.
I still recall the moment when I decided I wanted to create video games for a living. It was grade 7, I was in middle school (Australian), and we were asked in class, for homework, to decide what we wanted to do for a living. Even though I had thought about wanting to create video games for a living, I wasn't sure it was the right career path for me. I went home and thought about what I wanted to do really when I grow up. I thought is this just a childhood dream, or is it what I really want to do with my life. Since, being a Call of Duty fan and owning all of the CoD games, Call of Duty World at War was the latest CoD, I played that. When playing, I got some wild ideas of a first person shooter time travel/teleportation game that I would like to create. After contemplating and writing ideas about it, I came up with a mini Game Design Document of how it would work. After writing up this mini GDD I realised that creating video games is where my passion is and I should follow that passion. When the DLC pack for CoD WaW that included Der Riese in it, which of course included teleporters, the idea for that game came back to me and a feeling of nostalgia and passion came over me. This experience cultivated and encouraged the passion that I have for games today.
